Ayla gets pissed
One critical moment in childhood development is the awareness that "I want X and you just took it from me. Boo hoo." In just the past week Ayla has crossed that threshold. Before it kind of went like this:
Ayla: "Oooh, this knife is soooo shiny. I'm going to check out this pointy end."
Dad takes knife away.
Ayla: "What was I just playing with? Oooh, ceiling fans are pretty."
This morning Beckett took a big-kid book away from Ayla, who was trying to shove it in her mouth. He was in the right, but she -- possessed now of the concept of, well, possession -- didn't care for it one bit. On came a brief display of the waterworks. Mom and Dad cooed.
