A weekend getaway

Amber and I got away the weekend of February 28 to attend my fraternity pledge brother Jeff Trower's wedding in Springfield, Illinois.

I was very cool catching up...we figured out that night that it'd been almost eight years since we'd seen each other. But as with all old friends, five minutes and a beer make the years fall away.

So, soon we got back to solving the world's problems like the old days at Mizzou. Amber and I were so glad to be there.

Soccer madness

Beckett is enjoying soccer quite a bit. And even though he's playing against mostly older kids, has been doing quite well. Two weeks ago he put on something of a clinic, scoring six times in a come-from-behind 8-6 victory. Yes, the parents get somewhat more into this than the kids; it's true.

Regardless, here's a sequence from this past Saturday's game. Sorry for the blurry pics, they're taken through Plexiglass and it confuses the camera a bit.

Here's Beckett, awaiting the pass from the goalie.

He turns.
Defenders close in, but...
Whoops! Strike one.

And then it's off to the races.

Representatives from the English Premier League should direct inquiries to therowsons@mchsi.com.

(Note: Just in case our heads get too big, there's always this six-year old, Madin Mohammed, who is already being courted by Real Madrid and Chelsea.)

Cousin times

Ayla always has a good time with her (slightly) older cousin, Danika. Everyone loves watching them play, but their fathers secretly fear bankruptcy by shoe-shopping.

Ayla also loves to dish out a little punishment to her brother. To Beckett's credit, he doesn't retaliate to her frequent pull-shirt-punch-face outbursts with his own. But still, Ayla's going to be no pushover. Feisty lives here.

Dance Dance Revolution

So, Beckett likes to dance or whatever. Those of you on Facebook already saw this, because FB is 100x easier to upload video to than Blogger. Stupid Blogger.
