More resort fun

Most of our time in Mexico was spent poolside, whereby the adults consumed Negras Modelos and margaritas by the bucketload. The kids just played.

A Night in Playa Del Carmen

Some of the most fun we had in Mexico was had on the first night. We had a cab take us into Playa del Carmen - an actual city - where we walked around, bought random tourist stuff and tried no to lose the children to shifty-eyed kidney-snatchers. The highlight was a good meal and excellent activities at Ajua. Between the music, juice and dance floor the kids had a great time.

This is me trying to remember Spanish for "I would like it all. Everything on the menu. Bring it all."




Here's a gratuitous bonus video I don't think I'd posted before. Anyone who has seen Ayla sprinting recently will find this especially amusing. It's from mid-October. Man, she's changing so fast.

Day One in Mexico

We rolled into Riu Palace in the early afternoon of December 28, having stopped twice for beer on the 45 minute drive down from Cancun International Airport. Ayla clearly relished not being cooped up.

Below it would appear that Joel is thinking of a good way to parry my suggestion that we "troll the pool for some honies." Awwwkward.

It should be noted that Beckett did not, in any way, know this kid. He just wanted in on the coin-tossing action.

Christmas in KC

As always, Christmas in Kansas City was relaxing, laid-back, almost sleepy.

Mema and Papa (ie, not Dad) got Beckett a chef's outfit. He was very excited and has produced some excellent soups and one cod dish while touqued-out.


I'm not saying Ayla looks a tad like the princess from The Neverending Story when she put on the headband. I'm just saying.

Ayla and Danika had a lot of fun learning to share with each other. And now, Ayla demonstrates...
