All the World is Full of Redbuds

The City of Columbia distributed free tree saplings at the farmer's market Saturday morning. Beckett and I picked out an Eastern Redbud. Redbuds are abloom everywhere these days and Amber mentioned she'd like one for the yard. So, now we have one. Planted it Saturday evening. After leaving Stephens Lake park yesterday Beckett was quite taken by all the redbuds we saw on the drive home and sang an impromptu redbud song. Then he exclaimed at top volume, "All the world is full of redbuds!"

Stephens Lake park

Mom's out of town for the week so Dad's flying solo. We had a good time at Stephens Lake park yesterday...good way to battle cabin fever.

The Constant Gardener

In the interest of occupying some of that extra time we have these days we've planted vegetables and things in a 16' x 10' section of land on the east side of the house. Cauliflower, broccoli, tomatoes and lettuces are just a few of the tasty offerings we hope to be dining on this summer (if the rabbits and deer don't get them first). Our tomato plants were a hit last year; here's hoping we can replicate that success this time around.

Lake times

We spent last weekend down at GG's at the Lake of the Ozarks. Got in some (unproductive) fishing, golf and even an early-morning boat ride. The rain we've had lately washed large amounts of sticks and debris into the water. Some were fun to play with.

Okay, Ayla's got cheeks, but this lifejacket getup exaggerates them somewhat. Or, who says it's too early to lay the groundwork for an eating disorder down the road? Seriously, those are some cute cheeks.

Unexcused Absence

The sheer abundance of blog updates that need to be made has dissuaded me from, you know, updating. So we'll just start'er back up with the present time and fill in rest later.
