Beckett and Ayla's Blog

A not-so-daily collection of thoughts and pics about the Rowson clan...and especially Beckett and Ayla.

Mom put on her happy face, however, for the Fenway Park tour. Here she is atop the "Green Monster." When I told Dad that the book about the green monster was my favorite, he blinked twice and walked away without saying anything. Mom had a similar reaction to Dad's breathless recreation of Fisk's home run in the '75 World Series.

This is the view of center field at Fenway. Dad said something about a ball "The Tedsicle" hit almost to where the Ford sign is now, but the remark was lost on me. I'm just wondering why he can't take a picture without some stranger's head in it.

At the end of the day Mom and Dad took a tour of Fenway Park. Mom was thrilled -- just thrilled! -- to spend time here instead of shopping or at Boston's many fine art galleries.

Here is Dad posing with some guy on a horse. So the guy rode around in the middle of the night yelling...sounds like he could've used a night in the slammer more than a sculpture, but that's just me. I don't like people waking me up at odd hours.

While Mom and Dad were looking at buildings and learning about dead people, Tom and I were doing stuff that doesn't suck...like playing.

Dad was all excited about this memorial to the 54th Massachussetts Regiment...something about a movie called "Glory."

The Granary Burial Ground is located smack dab in the middle of downtown Boston, and is the third oldest cemetary in the city. John Hancock, Samuel Adams and other historical figures are buried here.

I guess if the strangest thing that happens to you on St. Paddy's Day in Boston is running into a wild turkey downtown, you're getting pretty old.

I heard they behaved themselves for the most part, however, and were up being tourists early the next morning. Here's a picture Dad took of the Old State House in Boston Common.

Dad was happy to get out of the cold and into a couple of Guinnesses.

After waiting all that time, they had some catching up to do.

Meanwhile, Mom and Dad were waiting in line for two hours for the opportunity to pay for the opportunity to drink black beer and act like idiots. Mom, in the Ireland soccer sweatshirt in the lower right-hand corner of the picture, is about as Irish as shrimp gumbo.

While Mom and Dad were in Boston, I got to go to Chuck E. Cheese. Sometimes it seems like Tom was having more fun than me.

Mom also made me a birthday hat, which was cool but not very comfortable.

That night we had people over for my birthday party and Mom made me an awesome cake. I'd never seen so much sugar in one place in my life.

Because Mom and Dad tired of the stroller-hobbling, they decided I should ride on Dad's shoulders. It's so fun to blind Dad with his hat as we walk past the alligator pen!

On my birthday we all went to the National Zoo. Oh how I love to take my stroller and run it into the backs of people's legs at high speed! They laugh until they cry. Good times for all.

Mom and Dad are sure working in the yard a lot lately. Mom was getting these plants potted all wrong, so I had to straighten her out as to where they go.

Here I am working on my masterpiece.

I made this play-dough sculpture, which I call "Mom and Dad Canoeing the Huzzah This Summer."

Mom and I had fun working on this cupcake at David's party. I eventually got it figured out...kind of a strange food item when you think about it, though.

There were a lot of kids at David's birthday party, but sometimes I like to hang out with Mom and Dad instead. Check out the sandals on Pops...this morning, two weeks later, there was snow on the ground. What's up with the weather?

Here I am making a birthday card for David McAdam, my good buddy who was born the day before me...in the room next door to me!
