A not-so-daily collection of thoughts and pics about the Rowson clan...and especially Beckett and Ayla.

Life has settled into a semi-regular cycle of feeding and sleeping now. I usually wake Mom and Dad up around midnight, at 3am, and again at 6 or 7 am. It really just depends on how feisty I'm feeling. Mom's fajitas from the night before also play a role.

On weekend mornings Dad gets me up early to watch lame foreign movies. He knows Mom won't watch them with him so he's hoping I will. Fat chance. This, more than anything else, has led to my very early efforts to roll over. My God, if I see another French or German subtitle I'll puke. Oops, I just puked anyway.

We watched a pre-season baseball game yesterday afternoon. I wanted a more thorough explanation of the strike zone, but all I got was this rambling diatribe about "that idiot Denkinger." Denkinger? I think we watched that movie Sunday morning. It sucked.

My parents have got their days and nights seriously mixed up. While they want to hang pictures, clean, work, and write thank you notes while the sun's up, I'm still sleeping off the previous night's festivities. They think they're pretty cool, but they are already starting to seem lame to me. Last night they put on a Ray Charles cd and fell asleep on the couch. This does not bode well for the future.

Dad uttered his first "because I said so" yesterday. The lame-ification has begun.

The fajitas Mom ate last night tasted really good...coming back up. I'm just kidding, they didn't really bother me. Yesterday I went for a stroller ride to the grocery store with Mom and Dad. They seemed really excited, but I could hardly keep my eyes open.

Today I spit up on the rocking chair. I'm not sure how "spit up" is different from "puke," but hey, I don't make the rules around here. My Dad seems to think I like staring at playing cards. Something about the "bold colors" is supposed to hold my attention but really, I just want to see how long a grown man will hold an ace of hearts in front of someone who wouldn't know it from a rack of lamb. What a maroon.

I was really tired last night. So after a two-hour fuss 'n feed, I slept until one in the morning, ate, and went back to sleep until six. Then ate and slept so long Mom and Dad just got up on their own!

They seem more happy, and Dad's stopped saying things about returning me "from whence I came." He needs to get a grip.

I've got my eye on this cat of theirs.

I didn't let Mom and Dad sleep much last night. Dad got frustrated with me but what's he expect? Gimme a break, I'm five days old! He said something about this baby stuff being a lot like pledgeship, only that there's less beer and it's only one person screaming at you.

He said he's thinking of taking up smoking.

Celebrated St. Patty's Day by breaking out of the hospital and heading home. Enjoyed my first car ride, exposure to cat, etc. While I was still at the hospital they weighed me and I'd gained almost 5 ounces since yesterday. This was good news since I'd lost some weight over the past few days and am yellow-colored. This added bulk will help get rid of that.

Circumcision. It's not cigars and champagne, but I guess it'll have to do.
